These 7-Up Biscuits are an unexpectedly easy and impressively delicious way to create soft, fluffy, and buttery biscuits without a lot of fuss. The carbonation in the 7-Up (or Sprite) acts as a gentle leavening agent, producing a light texture, while sour cream brings in moisture and a mild tang. Baked in a layer of melted butter, they come out golden, tender, and irresistible with any meal.

7-Up Biscuits

Ingredients:

IngredientQuantity
Bisquick (plus extra for dusting)4 cups
Sour cream1 cup
7-Up or Sprite1 cup
Butter, melted1/2 cup

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) so it’s ready by the time your biscuits are shaped.
  2. Combine Dry Mix & Sour Cream: In a large bowl, stir together the 4 cups of Bisquick and 1 cup of sour cream. Use a fork or pastry cutter until the mixture turns crumbly.
  3. Add 7-Up: Pour in the 7-Up or Sprite and stir gently until just mixed. The dough will be wet and sticky—don’t worry, that’s what makes the biscuits tender.
  4. Dust & Shape the Dough: Sprinkle about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Bisquick onto a floured work surface. Scrape the sticky dough out onto the dusted area. Lightly coat the dough with Bisquick, then gently shape it into a round or rectangle about 1 inch thick. Don’t knead or overwork it.
  5. Cut the Biscuits: Use a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass (2 to 3 inches wide) to cut out 8 biscuits. Press down without twisting to help the biscuits rise evenly.
  6. Prepare the Pan & Bake: Pour the melted butter into a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or a 9×9-inch baking dish. Arrange the biscuits in the pan so they sit snugly but aren’t overcrowded. Bake for 12–14 minutes, until the tops are golden and the biscuits have risen beautifully.
  7. Let Them Rest: Take the biscuits out of the oven and leave them in the buttery pan for about 5 minutes to absorb even more flavor. Serve warm.
