Amish Apple Cinnamon Casserole

This comforting dessert brings together tender, cinnamon-spiced apples and a buttery oat crumble topping sweetened with brown sugar. Serve it warm for the ultimate cozy treat — especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!


Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1 – Prepare the Apples:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.

Step 2 – Assemble the Casserole:
Spread the seasoned apples evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 3 – Make the Crumb Topping:
In another bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, melted butter, oats, and salt until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4 – Bake the Dessert:
Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the apples. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are soft and bubbly.
