| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Ground beef | 1 lb |
| Onion | 1, finely chopped |
| Garlic cloves | 2, minced |
| Tomato sauce | 2 cups |
| Elbow macaroni | 1 cup, cooked |
| Cheddar cheese | 2 cups, shredded |
| Salt and pepper | To taste |
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart as it browns. When it’s nearly cooked through, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Continue sautéing until the onion becomes translucent and the beef is fully done. Drain any extra fat if needed.
Pour the tomato sauce into the skillet with the beef. Stir to combine, and let it simmer gently for about 5 to 7 minutes, allowing the flavors to develop. Season with salt and pepper to your preference.
Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the elbow macaroni until just al dente, following package instructions. Drain thoroughly and mix it into the meat and sauce mixture.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Pour the macaroni and meat mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish (or similar size). Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
Place the casserole in the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbling, and golden brown on top.
Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help the dish hold its shape and make it easier to plate.
