Beer Cheese Bread

Few things rival the comforting aroma of homemade bread, especially when it’s fresh and paired with soup or spread with butter. While sourdough and classic bread recipes are timeless favorites, there’s something special about quick breads—simple to make, yet bursting with flavor. This Beer Cheese Bread is a perfect example. With minimal effort and maximum taste, it’s an absolute game-changer. Let’s get into it!

Ingredients

IngredientAmount
Butter, for greasing pan1 tablespoon
All-purpose flour3 cups
Granulated sugar2 ½ tablespoons
Baking powder1 tablespoon
Salt1 teaspoon
Garlic powder1 ½ teaspoons
Shredded cheddar cheese1 ¼ cups
Fresh chives, chopped2 tablespoons
Light beer (pilsner or lager)12 ounces
Melted butter2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with 1 tablespoon of butter, then set it aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder. Stir in the shredded cheese and chopped chives.
  3. Gradually pour the light beer over the dry ingredients and mix until just combined—don’t overmix!
  4. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the batter.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the loaf to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
