Crab-Stuffed Cheddar Bay Biscuits with Lemon Butter

These Crab-Stuffed Cheddar Bay Biscuits are a rich, savory treat perfect as an appetizer or a standout side dish. Tender, cheesy biscuits are filled with a creamy crab center and finished with a bright, buttery lemon glaze for an irresistible bite.

Ingredients

For the Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup buttermilk

For the Crab Filling

  • 8 ounces lump crab meat, well drained
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon lemon zest

For the Lemon Butter Sauce

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crab Filling
In a mixing bowl, gently combine the crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Old Bay seasoning, parsley, and lemon zest until smooth and evenly mixed. Set aside.

2. Make the Biscuit Dough
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture looks crumbly. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese. Slowly add the buttermilk, stirring just until the dough comes together.

3. Assemble the Biscuits
Scoop portions of dough and gently flatten each one. Place a spoonful of crab filling in the center, then wrap the dough around it, sealing the edges. Arrange the filled biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.

4. Bake
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the biscuits are puffed and golden brown.

5. Prepare the Lemon Butter Sauce
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the lemon juice, garlic powder, and parsley until well blended.

6. Serve
Brush the warm biscuits generously with the lemon butter sauce. Garnish with extra parsley if desired and serve right away.
