Grandma’s Old German Meat Croquettes

These traditional German Meat Croquettes bring hearty flavor and a satisfying texture to your table. Combining ground beef, grated potatoes, and fresh vegetables, they’re seasoned to perfection and baked until beautifully golden. Old German Meat Croquettes
Ingredients:
- 2 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
- 1 kilogram ground beef
- 1 medium carrot, grated
- ½ red bell pepper, finely diced
- 1 medium onion, grated
- Parsley, to taste
- 2 whole eggs
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- A generous pinch of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
Instructions:
- Prepare Potatoes: Grate the peeled potatoes finely. Wrap them in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze out excess moisture to remove starch.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, drained grated potatoes, grated carrot, diced bell pepper, grated onion, parsley, and crushed garlic. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Add eggs and mix thoroughly by hand or with a sturdy spoon until fully incorporated.
- Shape Croquettes: Form the mixture into oval or cylindrical croquettes. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly score the tops with a spoon for decoration.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake croquettes for about 40 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
