Ingredients
Ingredient | Amount |
---|---|
Rice Chex cereal | 4 cups |
Rice Krispies cereal | 2 cups |
Butter | 1 cup |
Brown sugar | 1 cup |
Vanilla extract | 2 teaspoons |
Cinnamon | 1 teaspoon |
Salt | 1 1/2 teaspoons |
Instructions:
- Prepare Oven & Baking Sheet: Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix Cereals: Combine the Rice Chex and Rice Krispies cereals in a large heatproof bowl. Set aside.
- Make Caramel Sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until the sugar dissolves.
- Cook Caramel: Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Let it bubble for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly and lightens in color.
- Coat the Cereal: Remove from heat and immediately pour the caramel over the cereals. Toss quickly and gently to coat every piece evenly.
- Bake: Spread the coated cereal in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 7-9 minutes.
- Cool & Store: Let the mixture cool completely on the baking sheet. It will harden as it cools. Once cool, break into clusters and store in an airtight container at room temperature.
