I fill the pan and place it in the oven, and the grime lifts off the walls and rack on its own.

Cleaning your oven doesn’t have to be a hassle. With a few common household items—like baking soda and white vinegar—you can restore it to a fresh, spotless state without heavy scrubbing or harsh chemicals.

Checklist

Baking sodaLifting dirt and deodorizing
White vinegarReacts with baking soda for deeper cleaning
WaterUsed to dilute vinegar
Spray bottleHelps apply the vinegar evenly

Rubber glovesProtects your hands

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Oven

Remove the oven racks and anything stored inside.
Put on rubber gloves to keep your hands protected.

Step 2: Create the Baking Soda Paste

Mix half a cup of baking soda with a little water until you get a thick paste.
Spread it over the oven’s interior surfaces, focusing on greasy areas and corners.

Step 3: Let It Sit

Allow the paste to rest for at least 12 hours—or leave it overnight.
Use this waiting period to clean the oven racks separately.

Step 4: Remove the Paste

Wipe out the dried mixture using a damp cloth.
For stubborn spots, gently scrape with a plastic spatula.

Step 5: Add Vinegar for Extra Cleaning

Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar.
Spritz the oven interior and let it react with the leftover baking soda.
Wipe everything again with a damp cloth, adding more vinegar and water as needed.

Step 6: Reassemble

Place the racks and any removed parts back inside.
Your oven is now clean, refreshed, and ready to use.

Maintenance Tips

  • Try to clean your oven every 3–6 months to avoid heavy buildup.
  • Check your oven’s manual before using a self-cleaning cycle.
  • Always wear gloves to protect your skin.
  • Keep the room ventilated during cleaning.
  • Stick with plain white vinegar for the best results.
  • Leaving the baking soda paste overnight gives the most powerful clean.
