“I made this last night and it is AMAZING! Tastes just like the restaurant. This recipe is from Longhorn Steakhouse.

This Ground Beef Casserole is a hearty and satisfying dish featuring layers of seasoned ground beef in a tomato sauce, tender egg noodles, and a creamy, tangy sour cream and cream cheese mixture, all topped with melted cheddar cheese. It’s a comforting meal perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients:

IngredientQuantity
Tomato Sauce2 (15 oz) cans
Large White Onion (diced)1
Egg Noodles1 (8 oz) package
Sour Cream1 cup
Cream Cheese (softened)1 (3 oz) package
Ground Beef1 lb
Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese½ cup (or more)
Garlic Salt1 tsp
Salt1 tsp
White Sugar1 tsp

Instructions:

  1. Brown the ground beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until it is browned and crumbly. Drain off any excess grease from the skillet.
  2. Simmer the beef sauce: Stir the garlic salt, salt, and tomato sauce into the browned ground beef in the skillet. Mix until well combined. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Remove the skillet from the heat and keep covered.
  3. Cook the egg noodles: While the beef sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package directions until they are al dente. Once cooked, drain the noodles in a colander and rinse them with cold water to stop the cooking process.
  4. Preheat oven and prepare dish: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
  5. Make the sour cream mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the diced white onion, sour cream, and softened cream cheese. Mix well until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  6. Layer the casserole: Begin layering the ingredients in the prepared casserole dish:
    • Spread half of the cooked egg noodles evenly in the bottom of the dish.
    • Top the noodles with half of the sour cream and onion mixture, spreading it evenly.
    • Spoon half of the simmered ground beef mixture over the sour cream layer.
    • Repeat the layers: add the remaining half of the egg noodles, followed by the remaining sour cream mixture, and finally the remaining ground beef mixture.
  7. Add cheese topping: Sprinkle the shredded sharp Cheddar cheese generously over the top layer of the casserole.
  8. Bake: Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden. The casserole should be heated through.
  9. Serve: Carefully remove the Ground Beef Casserole from the oven. Let it sit for a few minutes before serving warm. Enjoy this comforting and flavorful dish!
