“I made two trays of these for a church holiday dinner and my oh MY were they popular!”

This Sausage Hashbrown Casserole is a hearty and comforting breakfast or brunch dish. It combines savory cooked sausage, crispy hash browns, melted cheddar cheese, and a flavorful egg mixture, all baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients:

Frozen hash browns2 pounds
Ground sausage (cooked)2 pounds
Cheddar cheese (shredded)2 cups
Milk2 cups
Large eggs (whisked)9
Garlic powder1 tsp
Onion powder1/2 tsp
Diced green chiles1 small can

PepperTo taste
Oil (for browning)A few drops

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
  2. Cook the ground sausage in a skillet over medium heat until thoroughly browned.
  3. Remove the cooked sausage from the skillet and set it aside.
  4. Add a few drops of oil to the same skillet.
  5. Place the frozen hash browns in the skillet and lightly brown them.
  6. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  7. Line the bottom of the baking pan with the lightly browned hash browns.
  8. Layer the cooked sausage over the hash browns.
  9. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage.
  10. Sprinkle the diced green chiles over the cheese.
  11. In a large bowl, combine the whisked eggs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  12. Whisk the egg mixture thoroughly to combine.
  13. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the meat and hash browns in the baking pan.
  14. Bake the casserole uncovered for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the eggs are completely set and the top is golden brown.
  15. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
  16. Enjoy!
