I think this might be the tastiest version of this dish I’ve ever cooked!

Sweet and Salty Churro Bites

These bite-sized churros pack all the classic flavor you love—crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside—with a delightful twist of sweet cinnamon sugar and a touch of flaky sea salt. Perfect for dessert, snacking, or sharing at parties!

Ingredients:

IngredientQuantity
Water1 cup
Unsalted butter1/2 cup
Granulated sugar1 tablespoon
Salt1/4 teaspoon
All-purpose flour1 cup
Large eggs3
Vegetable oilFor frying
Granulated sugar (coating)1/2 cup
Ground cinnamon1 tablespoon
Flaky sea salt1/2 teaspoon

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a medium saucepan, combine the water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Lower the heat and quickly stir in the flour all at once. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a smooth ball and pulls away from the sides. Continue stirring for another 1–2 minutes to cook out the raw flour flavor. Remove from heat and allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. The mixture may look separated at first but will become smooth and glossy with continued mixing. Use a sturdy wooden spoon or a stand mixer with the paddle attachment for best results.

Step 2: Heat the Oil
Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a heavy-bottomed pot or deep skillet. Heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy, as consistent temperature is crucial for proper frying.

Step 3: Fry the Churros
Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip (like Wilton 1M or 2D). Carefully pipe out 1-inch pieces of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting with kitchen scissors as you go. Fry in small batches for 2–3 minutes, turning as needed until evenly golden.
Once fried, use a slotted spoon to transfer the churro bites to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 4: Cinnamon-Sugar Coating
In a shallow bowl or plate, mix the 1/2 cup granulated sugar with the ground cinnamon. Roll each warm churro bite in the cinnamon sugar until thoroughly coated. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over the coated bites for a sweet-salty finish.

Step 5: Enjoy!
Serve the churro bites warm. They’re fantastic on their own or even better paired with a dip like chocolate sauce or caramel.
