Dried thyme1 teaspoon
Black pepper½ teaspoon
Worcestershire sauce2 teaspoons
Swiss or mozzarella shredded cheese3 cups (divided)
Parmesan cheese (optional)For topping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Combine ingredients in baking dish: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, combine the uncooked orzo, vegetable broth, condensed French onion soup, sour cream, French onion soup mix packet, dried thyme, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are mixed together.
  3. Add initial cheese: Stir in ½ cup of the shredded Swiss or mozzarella cheese into the orzo mixture.
  4. Bake initially: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes.
  5. Add remaining cheese: Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 ½ cups of shredded Swiss or mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the orzo mixture.
  6. Bake until cheesy and bubbly: Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted, golden brown, and bubbling. The orzo should be tender and have absorbed most of the liquid.
