Marinated Cheese Plate

A cheese platter is always a crowd-pleaser, perfect for any event from festive holiday gatherings to laid-back weeknight socials. But this isn’t your ordinary cheese—it’s a Marinated Cheese Plate! Despite its gourmet flair and incredible flavor, it’s surprisingly easy to make. If you want a dish that leaves a lasting impression, this is the one.

Ingredients (in table format)

IngredientAmount
Olive oil3/4 cup
White wine vinegar1/2 cup
Roasted red peppers, drained and chopped8 oz
Green onions, diced3
Garlic, minced3 cloves
Sugar1 teaspoon
Dried oregano3/4 teaspoon
Sea salt1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper1 teaspoon
Cream cheese, chilled2 (8 oz) packages
Mozzarella2 (8 oz) blocks
Cheddar cheese1 (8 oz) block

Preparation Steps

  1. Place the cream cheese in the freezer while you prepare the other ingredients—this ensures easier slicing later!
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, vinegar, red peppers, green onions, garlic, sugar, oregano, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Slice the cheddar and mozzarella into squares about ¼ inch thick. Remove the cream cheese from the freezer and slice into similar-sized squares.
  4. Arrange the cheese slices in an 11×7-inch baking dish, alternating layers of mozzarella, cheddar, and cream cheese until the dish is full.
  5. Give the marinade a quick whisk to recombine, then pour it evenly over the cheese layers.
  6. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 5 hours or overnight to let the flavors meld.
  7. Serve the marinated cheese with crackers, pretzels, or toasted bread, and watch it disappear!
