“My hubs took one bite, stomped his foot, and said “WOW!!”

These Easy Molasses Buns are a simple and delicious treat with a warm, spiced flavor from the molasses and cinnamon. They’re quick to prepare and bake up soft and satisfying, perfect for a cozy snack or light dessert.

Ingredients:

IngredientQuantityNotes
Milk1/2 cup
Egg1
Molasses1 cup
Cinnamon1 tsp
Baking soda2 tsp
Sugar1/2 cup
Butter1 cup
Flour4 cups
Raisins1 cupOptional, for Molasses Raisin Buns

Instructions:

  1. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk, egg, molasses, cinnamon, and baking soda. Stir well until everything is mixed together.
  2. Add Sugar and Butter: Add the sugar and butter to the bowl with the wet ingredients.
  3. Warm Mixture: Mix the ingredients well. Then, transfer the bowl to a microwave and warm the mixture for about 40 seconds. This helps to melt the butter and further combine the ingredients.
  4. Incorporate Flour: Gradually add the flour to the warm mixture, mixing well after each addition until a cohesive dough forms. If you’re making Molasses Raisin Buns, stir in the raisins at this stage.
  5. Shape into Balls: Once the dough is well mixed, form it into small balls (the size is up to your preference).
  6. Arrange in Baking Dish: Place the dough balls in rows in a greased baking dish. You can use a 9×13 inch dish or a similar size. If you prefer, you can also make these in muffin pans.
  7. Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25 – 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a bun comes out clean. The buns should be lightly golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve: Remove the baked molasses buns from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy these easy and flavorful buns warm!
