“My hubsand gets giddy when he sees that I’m making this recipe. I have to guard them so they actually make it to our party”

These Salted Caramel Bites are a simple yet incredibly delicious treat that combines the crunchy texture of oyster crackers with a rich, buttery caramel coating and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. They’re quick to make and perfect for satisfying those sweet and salty cravings.

Ingredients:

IngredientQuantity
Oyster crackers4 cups
Butter3/4 cup
Brown sugar3/4 cup
Vanilla paste or extract2 teaspoons
Kosher salt1 teaspoon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and lightly spray it with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Arrange crackers: Spread the oyster crackers in a single, even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Make the caramel: In a large pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar and vanilla paste or extract. Stir continuously until the brown sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Boil the caramel: Turn up the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Continue stirring constantly for about 3-4 minutes while the caramel becomes bubbly and slightly lighter in color. It will have a delicious caramel aroma.
  5. Pour over crackers: Turn off the heat immediately and quickly pour the hot caramel evenly over the top of the oyster crackers.
  6. Coat the crackers: Gently mix the crackers with a rubber spatula until all of them are completely coated in the caramel. Work quickly as the caramel will start to set.
  7. Sprinkle with salt: Sprinkle the kosher salt evenly over the top of the caramel-coated crackers.
  8. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning, especially around the edges. They should be bubbly and slightly darker in color.
  9. Cool and break: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the Salted Caramel Bites cool completely on the pan before breaking them into clusters or individual pieces. Enjoy this crunchy, sweet, and salty treat!
