Sausage Hashbrown Casserole: A Savory All-in-One Breakfast Bake

This comforting casserole combines crispy hash browns, flavorful sausage, melted cheese, and fluffy eggs into one irresistible dish—perfect for brunch, breakfast gatherings, or a make-ahead family meal.

Ingredients:

IngredientQuantity
Frozen hash browns2 pounds
Ground sausage, cooked2 pounds
Shredded Cheddar cheese2 cups
Milk2 cups
Large eggs, beaten9
Garlic powder1 tsp
Onion powder½ tsp
Diced green chiles (small can)1
Salt and pepperTo taste

Instructions:

1. Prep and Cook the Sausage:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Once done, set aside, reserving any remaining fat in the pan.

2. Crisp the Hash Browns:
In the same skillet, add a touch of oil if necessary. Add the frozen hash browns and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden and slightly crispy. This adds great texture to the final dish.

3. Layer the Ingredients:
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread the browned hash browns evenly on the bottom. Top with the cooked sausage. Next, sprinkle on the shredded cheese, followed by the diced green chiles for a mild kick.

4. Make the Egg Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix until smooth and fully incorporated.

5. Assemble and Bake:
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered ingredients in the baking dish. Place in the oven and bake uncovered for 35–45 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the top is golden and bubbly.
