These easy-to-make bars are packed with rich butterscotch flavor and have a delightful crispy edge, perfect for a sweet treat.

Crispy Butterscotch Bars

Ingredients:

Baking powder2 teaspoons
Salt1/2 teaspoon
Butterscotch chips1 cup

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, pour in the melted unsalted butter and add the packed brown sugar. Stir them together until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Add the 2 large eggs and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until everything is thoroughly incorporated.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and ½ teaspoon of salt until they are evenly combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients (flour mixture) to the wet ingredients (butter-sugar-egg mixture), stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
  6. Fold in the 1 cup of butterscotch chips into the batter, distributing them evenly throughout.
  7. Pour and spread the batter evenly into the prepared 9×13 inch baking pan.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top of the bars is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and allow the butterscotch bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares. Enjoy!
