How to Make Creamy Chicken Lasagna

Step 1: Preheat & Prepare

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.

Step 2: Sauté Aromatics

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until soft and translucent.

Step 3: Warm the Chicken

Stir the shredded chicken into the skillet, mixing well with the onion and garlic. Heat through, then remove from the stove and set aside.

Step 4: Make the Ricotta Filling

In a medium bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, ½ cup Parmesan, egg, basil, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper and stir until smooth.

Step 5: First Layer

  • Spread a thin layer of béchamel or Alfredo sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
  • Arrange 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  • Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
  • Add half of the chicken mixture.
  • Sprinkle with 1 cup mozzarella and one-third of the remaining sauce.

Step 6: Second Layer

  • Add 3 more noodles.
  • Spread the remaining ricotta mixture over the noodles.
  • Top with the remaining chicken.
  • Sprinkle with another 1 cup mozzarella and another third of the sauce.

Step 7: Final Layer

  • Place the last 3 noodles on top.
  • Spread the remaining sauce evenly over the noodles.
  • Sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup mozzarella and ½ cup Parmesan.
  • If using, lightly dust the top with nutmeg.

Step 8: Bake

Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for 10–15 minutes, until the top is bubbly and lightly golden.

Step 9: Rest & Serve

Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing so the layers set properly.
