When I lived in Portugal I would buy one of these from the grocery store every week

Chocolate Salami – A No-Bake Delight

This playful no-bake dessert looks just like a salami but tastes like a rich, chocolatey dream! Packed with crushed cookies and toasted walnuts, this treat is perfect for festive occasions, gifts, or a sweet snack any time.

Ingredients

IngredientAmount
Maria cookies, crushed2 packages (4.9 oz each)
Walnuts, finely chopped & toasted1 cup
Semi-sweet chocolate chips2 cups
Heavy cream1 cup
Butter, cut into cubes⅓ cup
Powdered sugar (for coating)⅓ cup

Instructions

  1. Crush the Cookies:
Place the Maria cookies in a food processor and pulse until fine. No food processor? Use a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
  2. Toast the Nuts:
Heat a dry skillet over medium. Add chopped walnuts and toast for 3–5 minutes, stirring often until golden and aromatic. Set aside to cool.
  3. Make the Chocolate Base:
In a saucepan over low heat, combine the chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  4. Mix It All Together:
Remove the chocolate mixture from the heat and fold in the crushed cookies and toasted walnuts. Stir well until everything is evenly incorporated.
  5. Shape the “Salami”:
Lay out a large sheet of plastic wrap. Spoon the mixture onto the center, shaping it into a log. Use the wrap to roll and tighten it, forming a firm cylinder. Twist the ends like a candy wrapper to seal.
  6. Chill Until Firm:
Refrigerate the wrapped log for 2–3 hours, or until completely set and easy to slice.
  7. Finish & Serve:
Unwrap the chocolate log and roll it in powdered sugar for that “cured meat” look. Slice into rounds and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Tip:

You can customize this treat with dried fruit, pistachios, or a splash of rum for extra flavor!

Let me know if you’d like a version with different mix-ins or a dairy-free twist!
