Candied Kielbasa Bites

These candied kielbasa bites are an incredibly tasty appetizer, offering the perfect mix of sweet, savory, and a touch of tang. Sliced kielbasa is optionally “hasselbacked” to increase surface area, allowing the brown sugar, ketchup, and horseradish glaze to cling and caramelize beautifully.

Ingredients

IngredientQuantity
Kielbasa sausage2 lbs
Brown sugar1 cup
Ketchup1/2 cup
Prepared horseradish1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice Kielbasa:
Cut the kielbasa into 1-inch pieces.
  3. Hasselback the Kielbasa (Optional):
For added flavor, place each piece between two chopsticks or skewers on a cutting board. Slice the top of each piece into 1/4-inch cuts, stopping when your knife hits the sticks. This creates shallow slices that hold more sauce.
  4. Arrange in Baking Dish:
Place the kielbasa pieces in a baking dish in a single layer.
  5. Add Sauce:
Add the brown sugar, ketchup, and horseradish directly to the baking dish. Stir until all the kielbasa pieces are evenly coated with the glaze.
  6. Bake & Caramelize:
Bake for 60–90 minutes, stirring every 20 minutes to ensure even caramelization. Cook until the glaze is thickened and the kielbasa edges are browned and sticky.
  7. Serve:
Let the bites cool slightly before serving.
