Directions

  1. Remove any tough outer cabbage leaves and slice the cabbage into wedges, leaving part of the core intact to help hold them together.
  2. Cut the cooked ham into chunky bite-sized pieces and pat dry if necessary.
  3. Melt the butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
  4. Add the ham and cook for about 4–5 minutes until lightly browned.
  5. Place the cabbage wedges into the skillet around the ham and spoon some of the melted butter over them.
  6. Cover the skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low, and cook for 10 minutes until the cabbage begins to soften.
  7. Remove the lid, gently flip the cabbage wedges, and continue cooking uncovered for another 10–15 minutes until tender and lightly caramelized.
  8. Spoon the buttery pan juices over the cabbage and ham before serving warm.
