Oven-Baked Bacon

Few kitchen smells feel as comforting as bacon slowly crisping in the oven. I began using this method on relaxed weekend mornings when I wanted breakfast to feel a little more special—without having to hover over a popping, greasy pan. While the bacon cooks, the oven fills the kitchen with that warm, mouth-watering aroma, giving you time to sip coffee and enjoy a slower start to the day.
The first time I chose the oven instead of the skillet, I was preparing brunch for friends. Between scrambling eggs, brewing coffee, and setting the table, the stovetop quickly became crowded. The oven turned out to be the perfect solution—no grease splatters, no constant turning, just evenly crisp bacon ready all at once.
Since then, baking bacon has become my favorite method. It works just as well for a weekday breakfast as it does for meal prep, dinner sides, or a big holiday brunch. If you’re looking for a simple way to get perfectly crispy bacon with minimal mess, this technique might become your new habit.
Oven-Baked Bacon 🥓
Ingredients
- 1 lb bacon (regular or thick-cut)
- Aluminum foil or parchment paper – optional, for easier cleanup
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Heat the oven to 400°F (205°C). If you like easier cleanup, line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment.
2. Arrange the Bacon
Place the bacon strips on the baking sheet in a single layer. It’s fine if the pieces touch slightly, but avoid overlapping them.
3. Bake
Set the pan on the middle rack and bake until the bacon reaches your preferred crispness:
- Regular-cut bacon: 15–18 minutes
- Thick-cut bacon: 18–22 minutes
4. Drain and Serve
Move the cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb extra grease. Serve while hot.
Why This Method Works ❤️
- The heat cooks the bacon evenly without needing to flip it
- No messy grease splattering on the stovetop
- Consistently crispy strips every time
“Great bacon doesn’t need constant attention—just a hot oven and a bit of patience.” 🥓
