Loaded Cheesy Garlic Texas Toast

This cheesy Texas toast elevates traditional garlic bread into something extra indulgent. Thick slices of bread provide the perfect foundation for layers of melted mozzarella and provolone, giving you a soft, gooey center with crisp, golden edges. A flavorful garlic butter blended with herbs and Parmesan seeps into the bread as it cooks, adding even more depth and richness.

Cheesy Texas Toast

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of Texas toast (or any thick-cut bread)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Optional: dried parsley for garnish

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Garlic Butter
In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, Parmesan, garlic powder, and oregano until well combined.

Tip: If you prefer a crispier base, lightly toast the bread for a minute or two before adding the butter. Skip this step if you want a softer texture.

Step 2: Arrange the Bread
Lay the slices in a single layer on a baking sheet or inside an air fryer basket. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over each piece.

Step 3: Layer the Cheese
Sprinkle the mozzarella over each slice, then place a slice of provolone on top.

Tip: Adding the provolone last helps the cheese melt evenly and keeps the shredded mozzarella from falling off.

Step 4: Cook

  • Air fryer: Cook at 350°F for about 5 minutes
  • Oven: Bake at 375°F for 6–7 minutes

Cook until the cheese is melted and slightly golden.

Step 5: Serve
Sprinkle with dried parsley if desired and serve immediately while the cheese is hot and stretchy.
