👨🍳 Instructions
1. Make the Pretzel Dough
In a large bowl, combine yeast, warm water, salt, and sugar. Let sit for about 5 minutes until it gets foamy.
Stir in the melted butter, then add the flour. Mix until a dough begins to form.
Knead on a clean surface for 2–3 minutes, until smooth and soft.
Dust the dough lightly with flour, cover the bowl, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
2. Shape & Boil the Bites
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and divide it into six equal portions.
Roll each into a rope about 20 inches long, then slice into bite-sized pieces.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Bring 9 cups of water to a boil in a large pot, then lower heat to a simmer. Stir in the baking soda carefully.
Working in batches, gently drop 10–15 pieces at a time into the soda bath for 10–15 seconds.
Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to the baking sheets.
Sprinkle with coarse salt and bake for 15 minutes, or until deep golden brown.
3. Prepare the Beer Cheese Dip
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Slowly pour in the beer, whisking to smooth out lumps. Add the cream and continue stirring until the mixture thickens.
Mix in the garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
Add the cheddar cheese and stir until melted and creamy. Remove from heat.
🧀 Serve It Up
