Crockpot French Onion Meatloaf
Ingredients
Meatloaf Base
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
Flavor Additions
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (plus extra for topping)
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Mix Everything Together
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, soup mix, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, and 1 cup of shredded Swiss cheese. Add the chopped onions, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Step 2: Form the Loaf
Shape the mixture into a compact loaf and place it into the slow cooker.
Optional: Spread ketchup over the top for extra flavor.
Step 3: Slow Cook
Cover and cook on LOW for approximately 6 hours, or until the meatloaf is fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 160°F).
Step 4: Add the Cheese
About 15 minutes before serving, sprinkle additional Swiss cheese over the top. Cover again and allow it to melt.
Step 5: Rest and Slice
Carefully remove the meatloaf from the slow cooker and let it rest for around 5 minutes before cutting. This helps it hold its shape and stay juicy.
