- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 8 oz (225 g) fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
Creamy Base
- 1 cup (240 ml) sour cream
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
- 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup (50 g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
Seasonings
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the Oven
Set the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
Brown the Beef
Warm the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the ground beef for about 5–7 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary, then season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Cook the Vegetables
Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté for 2–3 minutes. Stir in the mushrooms and cook for another 5–7 minutes until tender and most of the liquid has evaporated. Add thyme and chili flakes if desired.
Make the Creamy Mixture
In a bowl, whisk together the sour cream and heavy cream until smooth. Stir in half of the mozzarella cheese.
Assemble the Dish
Spread the cooked beef evenly in the prepared baking dish. Layer the mushroom mixture on top. Pour the creamy mixture over everything, then sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
Bake
Place in the oven and bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until hot, bubbling, and lightly golden on top.
Rest and Serve
Allow the dish to rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if you like.
