Slow Cooker Sticky Spareribs
These slow cooker spareribs are tender, flavorful, and coated in a rich sweet-and-tangy glaze that becomes perfectly sticky as they cook. With only a few simple ingredients, this recipe delivers classic comfort-food flavor with almost no effort, making it ideal for family dinners, gatherings, or relaxed weekend meals.
Ingredients
| Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
| Pork spareribs, cut into individual ribs | 3–4 lbs |
| Ketchup | 1 cup |
| Brown sugar | 1/2 cup |
| Apple cider vinegar | 1/4 cup |
Optional Seasonings
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Dash of hot sauce
Instructions
1. Prepare the ribs
Pat the ribs dry using paper towels and place them into a 6-quart slow cooker. Stack them carefully if needed.
For a less greasy sauce, trim away excess fat before cooking.
2. Make the sauce
In a bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar until smooth. Stir in any optional seasonings for extra flavor.
3. Slow cook until tender
Pour the sauce evenly over the ribs. Cover with the lid and cook until the meat becomes tender and easily pulls away from the bone.
- LOW setting: 6–7 hours
- HIGH setting: 4–5 hours
The ribs will release plenty of moisture while cooking, so additional liquid is not necessary.
4. Optional caramelized finish
For extra sticky ribs with a caramelized glaze, transfer the cooked ribs to a baking sheet. Brush with extra sauce and broil for 2–3 minutes until glossy and lightly charred.
Watch closely to avoid burning.
5. Serve warm
If desired, skim excess fat from the sauce before serving. Spoon extra sauce over the ribs and serve hot.
These ribs pair perfectly with classic sides like baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread, mashed potatoes, or a crisp
