Cheesy Texas Toast
This Cheesy Texas Toast is a quick and incredibly satisfying side or snack. Thick slices of bread are brushed with flavorful garlic butter, topped with melty cheese, and baked until perfectly golden and crisp. It pairs beautifully with pasta, soups, or stands on its own as a delicious treat.
Ingredients
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Texas Toast or thick white bread | 4 slices |
Grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or blend) | 1/2 cup |
Unsalted butter, melted | 2 tablespoons |
Garlic, minced (optional) | 2 cloves |
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven & Arrange Bread
Set your oven to 400°F (205°C). Lay the slices of bread on a baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.
2. Make Garlic Butter
In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter and minced garlic, if using.
3. Butter & Add Cheese
Brush both sides of the bread with the garlic butter mixture. Then, top each slice with a generous layer of grated cheese.
4. Bake to Perfection
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the toast are crisp and golden.
5. Serve Hot
Remove from the oven and enjoy while warm—on its own or as a savory side.
