Ingredients
- 2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
- 1–2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 3 green onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 pound cooked fresh white crabmeat, flaked or diced
- 8–10 egg roll wrappers
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
1. Prepare the crab filling.
Add the softened cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and chopped green onions to a food processor. Pulse several times until the ingredients are thoroughly combined and creamy.
Transfer the mixture to a bowl and gently fold in the crabmeat, taking care to keep some of the crab pieces intact.
2. Fill and roll the wrappers.
Place an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner facing you, forming a diamond shape. Spoon about 3 rounded tablespoons of the crab mixture into the center, arranging it in a short horizontal line.
Fold the bottom corner over the filling and tuck it underneath slightly. Fold both side corners inward, then roll the wrapper tightly toward the remaining corner. Dab the final corner with a little water to seal the egg roll securely. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
3. Heat the oil.
Pour vegetable oil into a heavy-bottomed pot or deep saucepan, ensuring there is enough for frying. Heat the oil to 375°F (190°C), using a kitchen thermometer to monitor the temperature.
4. Fry until crispy.
Carefully lower 2–3 egg rolls into the hot oil at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for approximately 1–2 minutes, turning as needed, until the wrappers are crisp and lightly golden brown.
Remove the egg rolls with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Allow the oil to return to the correct temperature before frying the next batch.
5. Serve and enjoy.
Let the egg rolls cool slightly before serving, as the filling will be very hot. Arrange them on a serving platter and pair them with sweet-and-sour sauce, sweet chili sauce, or another favorite dip.
Enjoy these crispy, creamy crab rangoon egg rolls as a delicious appetizer or a fun addition to your next homemade Asian-inspired meal.
