My neighbor Helen brought it to every potluck from 1975 to 2010 and it vanished before anyone sat down. Still the first thing requested at every holiday open house

Oven-Baked 4-Ingredient Flaky Savory Party Pinwheels
These delicious savory pinwheels are made with flaky puff pastry, creamy cream cheese, sharp cheddar, and finely chopped ham. Baked until golden, crisp, and beautifully puffed, they make an easy, crowd-pleasing appetizer for parties, family gatherings, holiday celebrations, or casual snacking.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- ½ cup cooked ham, finely chopped
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly flour a clean work surface. Unfold the thawed puff pastry.
2. Prepare the filling
In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, and chopped ham. Stir until the ingredients are evenly incorporated into a creamy, savory mixture.
3. Fill and roll the pastry
Spread the filling evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a narrow border around the edges. Starting at one long side, roll the pastry tightly into a log.
4. Cut the pinwheels
Using a sharp knife, slice the log into rounds approximately ½ inch thick. Arrange the slices cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little room between each pinwheel.
5. Bake until golden
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 16–20 minutes, or until the pastry has puffed up and turned a rich golden brown.
6. Cool and serve
Let the pinwheels rest on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy them warm while the pastry is crisp and flaky and the cheesy ham filling is deliciously creamy.
