Southern 4-Ingredient Creamed Corn

This is the kind of dish people would go out of their way for—my uncle certainly has. It’s rich, smooth, and just the right amount of sweet, with tender corn coated in a creamy, velvety sauce that tastes like it simmered all day. The best part is how simple it is to make, using only a handful of ingredients for a comforting result without the long prep time.
Serve it warm next to roast chicken, meatloaf, ham, or grilled pork chops. It also pairs nicely with mashed potatoes, green beans, or a crisp salad to balance the richness. Add cornbread or soft dinner rolls to soak up the extra sauce. Any leftovers heat up well and can even be used as a topping for baked potatoes or rice the next day.
Southern Creamed Corn (4 Ingredients)
Ingredients
- 4 cups (20 oz) frozen corn kernels
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
Directions
- Place the corn, cream, butter, and sugar into a medium saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring until the butter is fully melted and everything is well mixed.
- Once it begins to bubble, lower the heat and let it simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Allow the mixture to thicken into a creamy sauce, then remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed before serving warm.
