This lighter version of traditional meatloaf offers all the comfort without the extra calories. Made with lean ground beef and wholesome ingredients, it’s a healthier take on a beloved classic that’s still packed with flavor. Perfect for a nutritious, satisfying dinner any night of the week.

Ingredients

For the Meatloaf:

Whole wheat bread, torn into pieces1 ½ slices
Vidalia onion, finely chopped1 cup
Large egg whites3
SaltA pinch
Black pepper½ teaspoon
Ketchup3 tablespoons
Yellow mustard1 tablespoon
Worcestershire sauce1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan
    Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly coat a loaf pan with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix the Meatloaf Base
    In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, shredded whole wheat bread, chopped onion, egg whites, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Make the Sauce
    In a separate small bowl, whisk together ketchup, yellow mustard, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
  4. Combine & Shape
    Pour the sauce mixture into the bowl with the meat mixture. Using clean hands, mix thoroughly until the ingredients are evenly distributed. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in the prepared pan.
  5. Bake the Meatloaf
    Transfer the pan to the oven and bake for about 55 minutes, or until the loaf is cooked through and firm in the center.
  6. Cool Slightly & Serve
    Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes after baking. Slice into 5 portions and serve warm.
