Ingredients
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Lean ground beef | 1 lb |
| Coarsely chopped cabbage | 2 cups |
| Medium onion, diced | 1 |
| Garlic cloves, minced | 3 |
| Vegetable oil | 2 tablespoons |
| Cooked chow mein noodles or spaghetti | 2 cups |
| Soy sauce | ¼ cup |
| Hoisin sauce | 1 tablespoon |
| Sesame oil | 1 teaspoon |
| Ground ginger | ½ teaspoon |
| Black pepper | ¼ teaspoon |
| Shredded carrots | 1 cup |
| Bell pepper, thinly sliced | 1 |
| Bean sprouts (optional) | 1 cup |
| Chicken or vegetable broth | 1 cup |
| Sliced green onions | For garnish |
Instructions
1. Cook the Beef & Aromatics
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic in vegetable oil until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain off any excess fat.
2. Add Cabbage & Noodles
Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook until it begins to soften. Add the cooked noodles along with soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, and black pepper. Mix well to evenly coat everything in the sauce.
3. Mix In Veggies & Bake
Fold in the shredded carrots, bell pepper, and bean sprouts if using. Pour in the broth and stir to combine thoroughly. Transfer the mixture to your prepared baking dish.
4. Bake & Serve
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the casserole is heated through and bubbling. Top with sliced green onions just before serving and enjoy hot.
