A Note from the Delivery Guy Made Me Install Security Cameras around My House – I’ll Forever Be Grateful to Him

Last Tuesday started like any other day — until our routine food delivery took an unsettling twist. Our usual delivery driver, Ravi, showed up looking visibly anxious. Instead of his typical cheerful greeting, he handed me the bag silently and left in a hurry. When I went to set the food down, I noticed a small handwritten note stuck to the side of the bag: “CHECK YOUR TRASH CAN.”
Confused and uneasy, I immediately went outside to see what he meant. Inside our trash bin, hidden beneath a few bags, I found a collection of suspicious tools — and a container of a chemical commonly used to dissolve or weaken locks. My heart started racing. It was clear that someone had been preparing to break into our home.
I wasted no time calling the police. Officers arrived quickly and began a detailed investigation. After examining the evidence, they confirmed our fears: our address was listed among several homes being targeted in a recent string of neighborhood burglaries. The intruder hadn’t struck yet — thanks to Ravi’s quick thinking.
That realization hit hard. If he hadn’t warned us, things could have gone very differently.
In the days that followed, we focused on reinforcing our safety. We installed a modern security system complete with motion sensors and 24-hour surveillance cameras. We also connected with our neighbors to establish a community watch, ensuring that everyone stays alert and informed.
Though the suspect is still at large, this incident served as a powerful reminder: danger can appear when you least expect it, even in quiet neighborhoods.
Now, more than ever, we’re vigilant — but also grateful. Grateful for Ravi’s bravery, for the rapid response of law enforcement, and for the solidarity of our community. What began as a terrifying experience has ultimately strengthened our sense of awareness, resilience, and trust in the people around us.
