Ingredients (Base)

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (dry)
  • 8 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 egg

Ingredients (Creamy Topping)

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 16 ounces powdered sugar

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat Oven
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

Step 2: Prepare the Base
In a medium bowl, combine the dry cake mix, melted butter, and egg. Stir until smooth, then press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.

Step 3: Make the Cream Cheese Layer
In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs and continue mixing for a minute. Gradually blend in the powdered sugar until the mixture is fully combined and silky.

Step 4: Assemble and Bake
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake base. Bake for 25–30 minutes at 350°F (175°C), until the edges are set and the center is just slightly soft. Take care not to overbake.

Step 5: Cool and Slice
Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting. This helps achieve that signature gooey, creamy texture everyone loves.
