Every Christmas, I have to make this in the middle of the night and hide it from my family if I want any of it to survive

These rich dessert bars feature a soft cake-mix crust topped with a luscious, creamy layer of sweetened cream cheese that melts in your mouth with every bite.
Ooey Gooey Bars
Ingredients – Crust
Yellow cake mix (dry, not prepared) – 1 box
Butter (melted) – 8 tablespoons
Egg – 1
Ingredients – Creamy Layer
Cream cheese (softened) – 8 oz
Eggs (beaten) – 2
Powdered sugar – 16 oz
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Base
In a medium bowl, combine the dry cake mix, melted butter, and egg. Mix until smooth, then press evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Set aside.
Step 3: Make the Filling
In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add the beaten eggs and mix for 1–2 minutes. Gradually stir in the powdered sugar until fully incorporated.
Step 4: Bake
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are set while the center remains slightly soft. Do not overbake.
Step 5: Cool and Slice
Let the bars cool completely before cutting to achieve that perfectly gooey texture.
