This recipe makes a rich, buttery toffee with just the right amount of sweetness and a satisfying nutty crunch. It’s a perfect treat for holidays, parties, or simply whenever you’re craving something indulgent.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or almonds

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Baking Sheet
Line a baking pan or cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

2. Make the Toffee

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the sugar, salt, and water, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
  • Bring the mixture to a steady boil and cook until it reaches 300°F (the hard crack stage), stirring the entire time.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

3. Assemble the Layers

  • Carefully pour the hot toffee onto the prepared parchment-lined sheet.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top and allow them to sit for 1–2 minutes until softened.
  • Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the surface.
  • Top with chopped nuts, pressing them lightly into the warm chocolate.

4. Cool and Break Apart

  • Let the toffee cool completely until hardened.
  • Once set, break it into pieces.

Tip: For an added touch of flavor, sprinkle a bit of sea salt over the chocolate after it has firmed up.
