Georgia’s Heavenly Melted Toffee

This recipe makes a rich, buttery toffee with just the right amount of sweetness and a satisfying nutty crunch. It’s a perfect treat for holidays, parties, or simply whenever you’re craving something indulgent.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or almonds
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Baking Sheet
Line a baking pan or cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
2. Make the Toffee
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the sugar, salt, and water, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
- Bring the mixture to a steady boil and cook until it reaches 300°F (the hard crack stage), stirring the entire time.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
3. Assemble the Layers
- Carefully pour the hot toffee onto the prepared parchment-lined sheet.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top and allow them to sit for 1–2 minutes until softened.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the surface.
- Top with chopped nuts, pressing them lightly into the warm chocolate.
4. Cool and Break Apart
- Let the toffee cool completely until hardened.
- Once set, break it into pieces.
Tip: For an added touch of flavor, sprinkle a bit of sea salt over the chocolate after it has firmed up.
