Ingredients
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Elbow macaroni (dry) | 3 cups |
Salted butter | 4 tablespoons |
Evaporated milk | 2 cans (12 oz/370 mL each) |
Milk (any kind) | 1/3 cup |
Large eggs | 2 |
Garlic salt | 1/4 teaspoon |
Cheddar cheese, shredded | 4 cups |
Mozzarella cheese, shredded | 2 cups |
Paprika | 1 teaspoon |
Instructions
1️⃣ Boil the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the macaroni until just al dente—tender with a slight bite. Drain thoroughly.
2️⃣ Add Butter to Pasta
Return the drained macaroni to the pot while still hot. Stir in the butter until completely melted and evenly coats the noodles. Set aside.
3️⃣ Mix the Milk Base
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the evaporated milk, regular milk, eggs, and garlic salt until fully combined and smooth.
4️⃣ Blend the Cheeses
In another bowl, combine the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
5️⃣ Prepare to Bake
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
6️⃣ Assemble the Layers
Layer 1/3 of the buttered pasta in the bottom of the prepared dish. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the cheese mixture. Repeat two more times, finishing with a generous cheese layer on top.
7️⃣ Pour & Sprinkle
Evenly pour the milk and egg mixture over the entire dish. Lightly sprinkle paprika over the top for added flavor and color.
8️⃣ Bake
Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and the casserole is golden and heated through.
