Hearty Amish Ground Beef Gravy Noodles (Slow Cooker)

A simple four-ingredient classic that tastes like it came straight from a family recipe box. This dish is all about comfort—ground beef slowly cooked with brown gravy mix and broth until tender, then combined with egg noodles that absorb all that rich, savory flavor. It’s straightforward, filling, and the kind of dinner that quickly becomes a regular on busy nights.
Serving Ideas
- Serve with a fresh green side like steamed green beans, a simple salad, or roasted broccoli.
- Add warm buttered bread or dinner rolls to soak up the extra gravy.
- Top with chopped parsley or sliced green onions for a fresh finish.
- Pair with something crisp like cucumber salad or coleslaw for contrast.
Ingredients
- Lean ground beef – 2 pounds (uncooked)
- Brown gravy mix – 2 packets (0.87 oz each, about 3 tbsp total)
- Low-sodium beef broth – 3 cups
- Wide egg noodles – 12 oz (uncooked)
Instructions
1. Add the beef
Place the raw ground beef into a 5–6 quart slow cooker, breaking it into large pieces. No need to brown beforehand.
2. Season
Sprinkle the dry gravy mix evenly over the beef so it coats the surface.
3. Pour in broth
Add the beef broth over everything. Leave it unstirred to allow gentle cooking.
4. Cook slowly
Cover and cook until the beef is fully done and easy to break apart:
- LOW: 4–5 hours
- HIGH: 2–3 hours
5. Break and mix
Use a spoon to crumble the beef in the slow cooker. Stir until the broth and gravy mix form a smooth sauce. Skim off excess fat if needed.
6. Add noodles
Stir in the uncooked egg noodles, pressing them down into the hot liquid so they’re mostly covered.
7. Finish cooking
Cover and cook on HIGH for 20–30 minutes, stirring once or twice, until the noodles are tender and coated in the gravy.
8. Serve
Taste and adjust with salt and pepper as needed. Serve hot directly from the slow cooker.
