Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Honeycomb cereal | 5 cups |
Brown sugar | ⅔ cup |
Butter | ½ cup (1 stick) |
Corn syrup | ⅓ cup |
Vanilla extract | 1 teaspoon |
Baking soda | ¼ teaspoon |
Granulated sugar | ½ cup |
Ground cinnamon | 1 ½ teaspoons |
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. - Get the cereal ready:
Place the Honeycomb cereal in a large mixing bowl. Set it aside while you make the coating. - Cook the caramel mixture:
In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup.
Stir over medium heat until the mixture starts to boil. Let it boil for 1 additional minute. - Mix in vanilla and baking soda:
Take the pan off the heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will foam and rise—this is normal! - Coat the cereal:
Pour the hot caramel mixture over the cereal and toss gently until all pieces are evenly coated. - Add the cinnamon sugar:
In a separate bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the caramel-coated cereal and toss again to distribute the flavor. - Bake:
Spread the coated cereal in an even layer on your prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 8 minutes, stirring halfway through to ensure even baking. - Cool and enjoy:
Let the mixture cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cool, break it into snackable pieces.
Store in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
