Ingredients:
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Ground beef or Italian sausage | 1 pound |
| Marinara sauce | 1 jar (24 oz) |
| Crushed tomatoes | 1 can (15 oz) |
| Italian seasoning | 1 teaspoon |
| Salt and black pepper | To taste |
| Ziti pasta | 1 pound |
| Ricotta cheese | 1 cup |
| Shredded mozzarella cheese | 2 cups |
| Grated Parmesan cheese | 1/2 cup |
| Fresh basil (optional) | For garnish |
Directions:
- Brown the meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage until no longer pink. Drain off any extra fat.
- Mix in the sauce: Transfer the cooked meat to your slow cooker. Add the marinara sauce, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Add the pasta: Pour in the uncooked ziti and mix thoroughly to coat the pasta with the sauce.
- Layer ricotta: Drop dollops of ricotta cheese evenly over the pasta mixture.
- Slow cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours, or until the pasta is fully cooked and tender.
- Add cheeses: About 20 minutes before serving, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top. Cover again and let the cheese melt.
- Serve and garnish: Spoon into bowls and garnish with fresh basil, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
