Grandma’s Apple Crumb Bars

A classic delight with a buttery base, juicy apple center, and crisp golden crumble — just like Grandma’s kitchen smelled on a fall afternoon.

🧂 Ingredients
For the Crust & Topping

For the Apple Filling

Apples (peeled, diced)5 cups
Granulated sugar½ cup
All-purpose flour2 tablespoons
Ground cinnamon½ teaspoon
Ground nutmeg¼ teaspoon

👩‍🍳 Directions

1️⃣ Preheat the Oven
Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray or butter.

2️⃣ Prepare the Crust & Topping
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon. Cut in the cold butter until the texture is crumbly. Mix in the egg until just combined. Press half of this mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.

3️⃣ Make the Filling
In another bowl, toss the chopped apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly coated. Spread the apple mixture over the crust.

4️⃣ Top It Off
Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the apples for a golden, rustic finish.

5️⃣ Bake & Cool
Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping turns golden brown and the apples are soft. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
