Directions
Prepare the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
Make the crumb mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon. Cut in the cold butter until coarse crumbs form. Add the egg and mix until the dough comes together. Press half of the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
Prepare the apples: In another bowl, combine the diced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
Layer the filling: Spread the seasoned apples evenly over the prepared crust.
Add the topping: Break the remaining dough into small pieces and scatter them evenly over the apples.
