3-Ingredient Sausage Gravy and Biscuits

My grandmother used to say Sunday mornings were meant for slowing down—not rushing—while something warm and comforting bubbled away on the stove. This 3-ingredient sausage gravy with biscuits was always her go-to: simple, hearty, and ready before the day fully started. Inspired by traditional farmhouse cooking, it comes together with just a skillet, sausage, a few pantry basics, and fluffy biscuits that fill the kitchen with a rich, savory scent. Before long, everyone would gather, drawn in by the aroma.
Serve the gravy generously over warm, split biscuits so each bite is rich and satisfying. Add a fried or scrambled egg on the side if you want something more filling. Fresh fruit like berries or orange slices adds a bright contrast, and a hot cup of coffee or tea completes the meal. If you’re serving a crowd, keep the gravy warm and let everyone help themselves.
3-Ingredient Sausage Gravy and Biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 lb pork breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuits, baked
Directions
Bake the biscuits according to the package instructions and keep them warm.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, about 7–10 minutes.
Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir well to coat evenly. Let it cook for 1–2 minutes.
Slowly add 1 cup of milk, stirring and scraping the bottom of the pan to blend everything together.
Gradually pour in the remaining milk, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth.
Let the gravy simmer for 5–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to a creamy consistency. Add more milk if needed to reach your preferred texture.
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Split the warm biscuits and spoon the gravy over the top. Serve immediately.
