Apple Pie Egg Rolls

Ingredients

For the Apple Filling

  • 3 cups peeled and diced apples, about 3 medium apples
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

For Assembly and Frying

  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable, canola, or peanut oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, optional
  • Caramel sauce, optional

Directions

1. Prepare the apple filling

In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice.

Stir until the apples are evenly coated.

Softer, naturally sweet apples such as Gala, Honeycrisp, or Fuji work especially well.

2. Assemble the egg rolls

Place one egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing toward you, creating a diamond shape.

Spoon about 2 heaping tablespoons of apple filling near the lower third of the wrapper.

Fold the bottom corner over the filling.

Fold both side corners inward, then roll tightly toward the top.

Moisten the final corner with a small amount of water and press to seal.

Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

3. Heat the oil

Pour about 2 to 3 inches of oil into a deep skillet or heavy pot.

Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).

4. Fry the egg rolls

Carefully add 2 to 3 egg rolls at a time.

Fry for about 4 to 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until the wrappers are crisp and evenly golden brown.

Avoid overcrowding the pan so the oil temperature stays consistent.

5. Drain

Remove the cooked egg rolls with a slotted spoon or tongs.

Transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

6. Finish and serve

Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Serve warm with caramel sauce for dipping or drizzle it over the top.

For an extra-indulgent dessert, pair them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Crispy, warm, fruity, and full of cinnamon flavor, these Apple Pie Egg Rolls are an easy twist on a classic dessert.
