Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus Bites

Every spring, my aunt would start grill season with a tray of these bacon-wrapped asparagus bites—and they were always gone within minutes. They have a slightly elegant feel, almost indulgent, yet they’re made with just two simple ingredients and a hot oven (or grill). The crispy, smoky bacon pairs perfectly with the tender asparagus, creating a delicious contrast between charred tips and juicy centers.

They’re naturally low in carbs, quick to prepare after a busy day, and perfect for those first warm evenings when you want something a little special without much effort. Serve them warm on a ceramic dish to help keep the bacon crisp. They pair well with sparkling water, a chilled white wine, or a light beer. For a complete low-carb meal, add grilled chicken, steak, or salmon alongside a fresh green salad. At a spring cookout, they complement dishes like deviled eggs and veggie platters with their mix of smoky and fresh flavors.

Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh asparagus spears (thin to medium, ends trimmed)
  • 12 ounces thin-cut bacon (about 12 slices)

Directions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet or lightly grease a shallow ceramic dish for easy cleanup.

Wash and dry the asparagus, then trim off the tough ends. Cut each bacon slice in half crosswise.

Group 3–4 asparagus spears into small bundles and wrap each bundle with a half slice of bacon, spiraling upward and tucking the end underneath to hold it in place.

Arrange the bundles in a single layer on the prepared dish, leaving a bit of space between each one.

Bake for 18–25 minutes, until the bacon is crisp and the asparagus tips are lightly browned. For extra crispiness, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end.
