May Long Weekend Bake: Just 3 ingredients. I make it when I want dinner handled hours ahead.

This 3-Ingredient Oven Beef Bake transforms an uncomplicated chuck roast into incredibly tender, pull-apart beef with a rich, glossy glaze. The roast slowly cooks beneath foil so it can absorb the savory broth and sweet barbecue sauce, then finishes uncovered for a beautifully browned exterior. With very little preparation required, it’s an easy main course that works wonderfully for family dinners and gatherings.
3-Ingredient Oven Beef Bake
Ingredients
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Beef chuck roast (or blade roast) | 3 to 3 1/2 pounds |
| Beef broth (low sodium preferred) | 1 1/2 cups |
| Thick brown sugar barbecue sauce | 1 cup |
Step-by-Step Directions
1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Beef
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Lightly grease a metal roasting pan or 9×13-inch metal baking dish. Use paper towels to pat the chuck roast dry.
2. Combine the Sauce
In a bowl or measuring cup, whisk the beef broth and brown sugar barbecue sauce together until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.
3. Coat the Roast
Set the beef in the center of the prepared pan. Pour the sauce mixture over and around the roast, turning the meat as needed to coat all sides. Finish with the fat side facing upward.
4. Bake Under Foil
Cover the pan tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil to seal in the moisture. Bake for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the beef becomes fork-tender.
5. Uncover and Caramelize
Remove the foil and spoon some of the flavorful pan juices over the roast. Increase the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C), then continue baking uncovered for another 20 to 30 minutes.
Baste the beef once or twice during this final stage and continue cooking until the surface is deeply browned and has a shiny glaze.
6. Rest, Slice, and Serve
Allow the roast to rest in its juices for 10 to 15 minutes. Slice the beef against the grain or pull it apart using two forks. Toss the meat with the thickened pan sauce and serve warm.
