My uncle brought this simple dish to our spring potluck and it was gone in minutes. Toss just 3 ingredients in the pot for a mouthwatering dinner that

Slow Cooker Amish Sausage and Peppers

This hearty slow cooker meal brings together smoky sausage, tender bell peppers, and a flavorful sweet-and-tangy sauce. The ingredients cook gently together, allowing the peppers to soften and the sauce to develop a rich, savory glaze that clings to every slice of sausage. With very little prep required, it’s an easy dinner for busy days.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced into ½-inch pieces
  • 3 large bell peppers, seeded and sliced
  • 2 cups sweet-and-sour Amish-style sauce or sweet chili vinegar sauce
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste, if needed

Instructions

1. Prepare the Slow Cooker

Coat the inside of a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker with a light layer of nonstick cooking spray.

2. Add the Peppers

Place the sliced bell peppers across the bottom of the slow cooker, spreading them into an even layer.

3. Add the Sausage

Arrange the sliced sausage over the peppers, distributing the pieces evenly.

4. Pour in the Sauce

Pour the sweet-and-sour sauce over the sausage and peppers. No additional water is necessary, as the peppers will release moisture as they cook. Give everything a gentle stir to distribute the sauce.

5. Slow Cook

Cover and cook on LOW for 4–6 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours, until the peppers are tender and the sausage is thoroughly heated.

6. Stir and Serve

Stir the sausage and peppers thoroughly before serving so they are evenly coated in the sauce. Taste and add salt or black pepper if needed.

Serve hot by itself, spooned over rice, or alongside crusty bread for a filling and flavorful meal.
