Philly Cheesesteak Pasta Bake
The Philly Cheesesteak Pasta Bake combines the familiar flavors of a classic cheesesteak with the cozy appeal of a hearty pasta casserole. Inspired by memorable family visits to Philadelphia and its famous cheesesteak spots, this comforting dish brings those flavors home with a satisfying Midwestern-style twist. Tender ground beef, flavorful vegetables, creamy cheese, and pasta shells come together in one delicious bake that’s ideal for an easy family dinner.
For a fresh contrast to the richness of the casserole, serve it with a crisp green salad and a light vinaigrette. Warm, crusty bread is also perfect for enjoying the creamy cheese sauce, while roasted broccoli or asparagus provides a flavorful, crunchy vegetable side.

| Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
| Pasta shells | 8 ounces |
| Olive oil | 1 tablespoon |
| Ground beef | 1 pound |
| Green bell pepper, diced | 1 |
| Onion, diced | 1 |
| Garlic, minced | 2 cloves |
| Salt | 1 teaspoon |
| Black pepper | 1/2 teaspoon |
| Worcestershire sauce | 1 tablespoon |
| Beef broth | 1 cup |
| Cream cheese, softened | 8 ounces |
| Provolone cheese, shredded | 2 cups |
Instructions
- Heat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the pasta: Cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions until they reach an al dente texture. Drain thoroughly and set aside.
- Brown the beef: Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Cook the vegetables: Stir in the diced green bell pepper, onion, and minced garlic. Continue cooking for approximately 5 minutes, or until the vegetables become tender.
- Add the seasonings: Season the beef and vegetable mixture with salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Make it creamy: Add the softened cream cheese and stir continuously until it has melted completely and blended into the beef mixture.
- Combine everything: Add the cooked pasta shells to the skillet and toss until the shells are evenly covered in the creamy beef and cheese mixture.
- Transfer to the baking dish: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and transfer the pasta mixture into it. Spread it evenly, then cover the top with the shredded provolone cheese.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, until the provolone is melted, bubbling, and lightly golden.
- Serve: Allow the bake to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy this hearty, cheesy comfort-food casserole while warm.
