Southern 3-Ingredient Pecan Pralines

When I’m craving something homemade, fast, and incredibly snack-worthy, these pralines are always my first pick. Inspired by traditional Southern candy-shop favorites, this version keeps things simple—no candy thermometer, no complicated process. Just rich brown sugar caramel, buttery flavor, and plenty of pecans.
The batch I made last time? Half of it disappeared before it even made it to the table, which says everything about how irresistible they are. With their crisp edges, chewy centers, and deep caramel taste, they don’t stick around for long.
Serve them stacked on a plate or enjoy them straight from the foil once they’ve cooled. They pair perfectly with coffee, tea, or a cold glass of milk. For dessert spreads, they balance nicely with creamy options like vanilla ice cream or cheesecake. They also hold up well for transport, making them ideal for bake sales, holiday treats, or sharing at work.
3-Ingredient Southern Pecan Pralines
Ingredients
- 2 cups pecan halves (toasted)
- 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
Directions
Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly grease it so the pralines don’t stick. Keep it ready nearby.
In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the pecans for 4–6 minutes, stirring frequently until fragrant. Set aside.
In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth and glossy.
Continue cooking for about 3–5 minutes, until the mixture becomes thick and bubbly but still easy to pour.
Remove from the heat and quickly mix in the toasted pecans, making sure they’re fully coated.
Spoon portions onto the prepared foil, spacing them slightly apart.
Allow them to cool at room temperature for 30–45 minutes until firm. Once set, peel them off and serve, or store in an airtight container for up to 5 days—if they last that long.
